      Also to add onto M505, even if she was a male purposely being ignorant and using “real gamer” seriously, yelling about it and shouting “Fuck you” doesn’t do a damn thing. Does the perception that if a woman is playing a game then she might be a “fake gamer” need to stop? Most definitely. But not explaining why to the offending party and instead just jumping to “fuck you fuck you fuck you” will never solve anything, only contributing to the problem.

        This is normal in the gaming community, though it needs to stop. Last night in my town at our local GameStop there was a gaming competition and I entered for SSBB. Using a pseudonym and dressing in drag, I managed to convince everyone there (except for the few there who knew who I really was) that I was male (which I’m not, if you didn’t get that already). I, by some skill but mostly luck, won the battle. When my dear boyfriend answered “This girl right here!” and scruffled my hair when the staff member asked who won, the crowd around us was shocked and outraged that I a)was a girl, and b) defeated them so easily. Multiple called me a cheater, demanded a rematch and pissed and moaned about being “beaten by a girl”.
        But nonetheless I won my bragging rights, slung my GaMERCaT bag over my shoulder, and walked away knowing I was more of a gamer than the sore losers still in the store took me for.

    See, there’s someone a lot like Pixel ’round here. A mysterious girl (we assume, given her Mii) who swooped through the scoreboards on 1st place. Nobody knows who’s she, since months. Only her Mii name, “Hilda”. She became kind of a small urban legend between me and my friends, for the laughs XDD

    Why is it always that the girl gamer needs to be better than the guy? Seriously, it’s in every movie/comic/form of media about gaming. Girls game als much as guys, I get it. But it’s just so rubbed in the last couple of years that it really drives me crazy.

      I don’t even understand why a game based entirely around streetpassing is being used. That’s not even a judge of skill.

        Multiple thoughts on the why here:
        1) Army size is easily identifiable, so even someone who knows nothing of the game could see that there’s a significant difference between the armys.
        2) Doing the panel with them in their game outfits looks has the extra “in-game” element that’s often seen in this comic (like Sweet at Peach a handful of comics back)
        3) None of the other streetpass games have a quickly & easily identifiable comparison right there (true, MiiForce has high score lists, but that involves more manipulation of the game, and GC is going for a quick look, not a drawn out examination, as he’s trying to move quickly here, lest she leave before he says anything)
        4) If one regularly has their gaming system on them, it would likely mean they’re regularly gaming on it, which in turn would mean that, surprisingly enough, they’re a gamer (gamers gaming, who’d have thought of such a thing) That would mean they’d get lots of street pass tags, and they’d have a decently sized army.
        5) It’s a comic, and the creator wanted to (has to save the sass for last :-D)

          Streetpass games are still essentially baby games and anyone can just take their 3DS around. And no, your sass is garbage. I get enough people telling me that this comic is terrible and unfunny, the last thing they’d want to do is not make any sense as well. The entire comic is a waste of panels.

          There are better ways to tell your thoughts, you should be more empathic with the creator’s feelings.

          While I agree that streetpassing games require little to no skill to play, “unfunny” and “terrible” are relative terms that will vary depending on the person. This comic may not be fun to you or your friends, but it is for other people.
