    You know how in those Mario Party commercials where everyone is playing together and smiling and having a great time?
    And then when you get your friends together to play it, everyone is bickering and it becomes the exact opposite of what the commercial?

    This is one of those situations

    Nah, Mario co-op is definitely the champ. Pretty sure it was literally designed to ruin friendships. For one, as mentioned before, Peach is a huge sticking point, and the original was arguably worse. You could be Mario, Luigi, Wario, Waluigi, Yoshi, Rosalina, Peach, Daisy- Wait nevermind, just the first two and BLUE AND YELLOW GODDAMNED TOAD. There’s also the ability to voluntarily bubble, which insidiously masquerades as an anti-frustration feature wherein the less skille players can just bubble up and let their experienced comrades handle it. Except more often than not, you’ll either hit it accidentally, or bubble reflexively in response to a threat and then everyone’s bubbled and you get booted.

    But the worst thing is when somebody dies, their death animation pauses the action for like a tenth of a second. Which, in a game with the subtle rhythm of a platformer, generally means everyone else is going to get their groove thrown off and die soon after BECAUSE YOU DIDN’T WATCH YOUR BARRIER!
