Ahh, I remember the days of yore when I would catch pidgeys and metapods purely because they were slightly higher level than the ones I had caught prior. Now look at me:
I spend hours on hours breeding pokemon just for a shot at one with 5 good IVs, then when I do find one, I spend hours more killing hoards of very specific pokemon for their EVs. (I know Gen 7 streamlined this…. but I dislike Gen 7… I always end up disliking the odd-numbered gens for some reason, dunno why). I go “I want a shiny Gardevoir with its hidden ability”, instead of being logical and waiting until I can do the equally time-consuming, but slightly more controlled, form of getting one (via breeding), I start chaining the little Ralts until I find one of the little buggers that happens to be shiny… with hidden ability… and female. I’ve gotten better over the course of doing some competitive pokemon stuff (nothing major, just among friends), but man, the evolution of how I treat pokemon games has become a long long way.
Oh trust me, I know. But some pokemon….. just need to be specific genders. You want a female Machamp? (I don’t think so, that’s gotta be a guy). Same with Gardevoir. Just needs to be female.
I’ve been playing pokemon since Red/Blue/Yellow first came out, but when genders became a thing in Gen 2, certain ‘mons just need to be certain genders.

I feel you. I really do. Gardevoir needs to be female. Machamp needs to be male. Good lord Audino and Aromatisse needs to be female. The list goes on for Pokémon with evenly split genders that need to only be one gender.
It’s funny, when I heard that the boxes were full of Pidgey and Rattata, I assumed it was going to be a Pokemon Go reference. Maybe that’s just me though.
Also, I definitely agree that Glitch on Sweet’s head is something that would be nice to see return again… and again… and again. If it’s not too much to ask, or too late to ask, could you continue with that for the next comic?

You don’t need a female kirlia for a Gardevoir. A male for a Gallade, but Gardevoir can be either gender.
